Dear Rare Pair Exchange Author Letter

 

Dear Creator,

You are amazing. I want to tell you that up front, because you are.

Please don’t stress about this assignment. Just the fact that you are writing for any of these fandoms or pairings in the first place will make me ridiculously happy. Also, I love gifts in general, so I’ll be chuffed to get a prize of any shape and size. I know this letter is ridiculously long as again I love these fandoms/pairings (And MAN we have the ability to request a lot for this exchange – I’m at 10 pairings across 5 fandoms). Please don’t let my letter length scare you off, though. In the past, I’ve found it easier to write for someone with more details about what they like or don’t like, so I try to provide as much as possible. Feel free though to just skim if it’s too much.

The only thing I do ask is that my No-Thanks list be avoided.

No thanks:  On the page infertility and/or miscarriage of major characters, discussion of plagues/pandemics, slave worlds, demon-possession, mind control, prostitution, noncon, dubcon, major character death unless part of canon (Looking at you Daniel Jackson LOL) and in any case if it’s one of my paired characters please make the death not have been permanent, infidelity unless part of canon, love triangles/jealousy focus (I am far more fond of OT3ing it up), characters de-aged/aged back up during the story (if you make one of the characters a child, make them “canon” children for that story if that makes sense), A/B/O, crackfic, gangster/mob, noir settings, Modern AUs that remove canon SFF elements, amnesia, loss of limb/amputations, mpreg, underage/adult relationships, gender swap, teacher/student relationships, focus on drug abuse/alcoholism, or non-canon sibling incest. Please no 2nd person or 1st person POVs (Unless the source material for the fandom is in 1st person like Innkeeper Chronicles – then go for it!). 

For M-rated fics, please no knife play/blood play/gun play (only in a sexual context – canon level plot/action violence is fine), scat, watersports, rape-as-fantasy-scenes, anal for M/F pairings, and any kind of direct blow in a sexual connotation, including spanking/flogging.

Yes Please: Post-apocalypse, slice of life/domestic/curtainfic, epistolary stories, found family, crossovers between requested fandoms, crossovers with characters ending up at the Gertrude Hunt of Ilona Andrews’ Innkeeper Chronicles series, AUs (particularly zombie apocalypse, Black Jewels trilogy verse, daemons, steampunk/neo-Victorian, Sentinel/Guide, Old West, and Pacific Rim fusions) – tho as above I’d prefer no Modern AUs that erase any magical/supernatural elements, outsider POVs, supernatural elements like hauntings/werewolves/fae/etc., badass chicks and the competent men who respect/lust after them for it, fixit fics to bring back killed off characters, fics where characters have kids and are adorable parents, or 5 and 1 style fics.

I’m definitely OK with an M-rating, and for smutty fics, I particularly love dirty talk, a clear top/dom ordering their bottom/sub around, service doms and service subs, hair-pulling, restraint i.e.: ropes/shibari/handcuffs/holding partner down, wall sex, shower sex, cramped vehicular sex, biting/marking (without major blood being drawn), mate bonds, “OMG we didn’t die” sex, and “sharing body heat” leading to sex.

Optional Re Crossovers: I also wanted to specifically mention that crossovers between any of my requested fandoms would be awesome if that’s your thing, especially with any of the other fandom characters ending up at the Gertrude Hunt of the Innkeeper Chronicles.

Sense and Sensibility
Colonel Brandon/Eleanor Dashwood
This pairing is one that fandom totally sold me on before I know I really wanted it, but that totally makes sense in retrospect. Eleanor and the Colonel really do feel like a better match than the ones they got, with a quiet glorious competence and respect between them that I could see growing into a strong, contented marriage. It might be a quieter love than one with Marianne involved, but that doesn’t mean it would be any less strong (honestly in my opinion I think that would be a stronger relationship!). I would prefer if you didn’t kill off or thoroughly ruin Marianne to make it happen, but I do want these Brandon and Eleanor to end up together and happily in love instead of the attitude that they are just “settling” for each other. For this one, aside from the crossovers between requested fandoms I mentioned above, I’d also be game for crossovers with Pride & Prejudice.

The Innkeeper Chronicles – Ilona Andrews 
Sean Evans/Dina Demille,
Really what’s not to love about an intergalactic Bed and Breakfast? I specifically requested Dina/Sean because I want the story to focus on that pairing, though honestly I really love all of the characters in this story, especially the inn itself, Gertrude Hunt which DEFINITELY feels like a character all on its own (Inn POV fic?). So, prompt/concepts I’m excited about: I’d love to have a 1st POV fic ala the books (though from any character you like – Dina, of course, is always a win as the book’s POV character, but I’m game for a look into anyone’s head, especially outsider POV on Dina/Sean), & I’d like it mostly set in and around Gertrude Hunt since the inn is a delight. Domestic fic in particular would make me super happy here. We always see Dina in a panic, but rarely get those calm moments of life running like normal or even with a guest that ISN’T close to causing an intergalactic incident. Of course, if you do want to write an action fic I’d be happy to read that as well. Seriously run wild – this series just makes me happy in general. BTW, I would definitely be thrilled to have a crossover with any of the other Ilona Andrews series as long as it’s taking place in the Innkeeper universe.

Black Sails Multiple Pairings
Abigail Ashe/Billy Bones
Let’s be honest, if you decided to write for this pairing, then you probably are already on this little rowboat of a ship with me and don’t need my spiel about these two in particular. So how about some prompts instead? 1. AU where Billy really is someone she might have known back in England. Bookish Abigail keeps buying journals & stationary at the same printer’s shop for reasons, and society ends up scandalized when the daughter of a governor forms an attachment to the son of a Leveler. 2. Billy courting Abigail be in in an AU in England or in Nassau. Is he good at it? Is he rubbish at it? Is he so painfully adorable that we (and Abigail) don’t care either way? 3. Modern AU firefighter!Billy. I’ll admit I’ve written a fill for this prompt before, but I just don’t think there can be enough of it LOL. 4. Really just Abigail climbing Billy like a tree because smut is always acceptable.

Abigail Ashe/Charles Vane
Abigail was raised a gentlewoman but clearly a little bloodthirsty and less intimidated by pirates than she should be and that just DESTROYS ME. Her response to Vane of “Good” will never fail to be delightfully chilling, and I can see that steel in her definitely catching Charles’s attention. Without Eleanor there to blind him with their tumultuous history and sexual attention, I can see that bit of intrigued growing into a grudging respect and later into attraction. However you get them back in the same location, whether the crew finds Abigail during the sacking of Charles Town and takes her with them on the ship or if she finds her way to Nassau due to her reputation being ‘ruined’ in the eyes of society – I’m really not picky on the details. I just want to see these two together. Also pirate!Abigail would definitely be something I’d enjoy for this pairing for sure!

Abigail Ashe/Billy Bones/Charles Vane
What can I say: my answer to any ships where I can see multiple pairings/connections of the same few folks is, of course, to just trio them all together! And hey Black Sails is a canon threesomes fandom so I think adding another OT3 just makes it even better, don’t you? No specific details for this one, though I do have one prompt I’ve been craving forever: The Walking Dead AU. I have no idea why that specific scenario sounds so fun for this trio; it just does. All other characters as survivors definitely welcome just as long as these three are the chore of the story.

Crossover Fandoms Multiple Pairings
Daniel Jackson/Faith Lehane
Confession: Daniel Jackson is pretty much my little black dress across MULTIPLE fandoms at this point though I rarely remember to request him oddly enough LOL. So he will be in several of these requests LOL. But to start off: I’ve seen some awesome Buffy/SG1 crossovers, but lately realized I’ve seen very few (if any) with my all time fave Buffy character, Faith Lehane. I think she and Daniel could be a very intriguing pairing for sure, and there are so many ways for Faith to be thrown in to Daniel’s path on this world or another.

Daniel Jackson/Darcy Lewis
Hey look it’s one of my OTHER multi-fandom little black dresses in the snarky and fabulous Darcy Lewis. I love that she speaks fluent sarcasm, can translate for researchers into real people speech (I have done this in my day jobs so I know how hard it actually is LOL), and bonus is impressively unflappable when dealing with otherworldly beings and shenanigans. Seriously, Darcy would be an asset to SGC – just possibly not one everyone would recognize the value of up front. But Daniel – he tends to notice potential in people even if he is easily distracted by his work. I’d love to see Darcy pull him out of the shell he’s built around himself romantically, much like Vala did in the series… only with more attention to Daniel actually CONSENTING which Vala seemed to steamroll lol.

Daniel Jackson/Elizabeth Bennet
I… I honestly have no explanations for this one except that it popped into my head and it could be glorious and I want it. You likely are my kind of quirky if you offered to write for this one, so I completely trust your judgement as far as how you’d manage to make this work. Oddly, though I know it will make things more difficult – I think I’d prefer period era Elizabeth as opposed to modern versions as I haven’t been able to get into Lizzie Bennet Diaries, etc. So much of what I love about Elizabeth is tied to how she is a woman in her time, and I think Daniel would appreciate that as well (whether the modern version of him somehow encountering her across time or a period version of him in a Regency SGC).

Richard B. Riddick/River Tam
Finally, we have one of my long time fave crossover pairs. The bitty psychic killer woman and Riddick just seem like they would be each other’s brand of vicious, and I’ve loved basically everything I’ve read that pairs the two of them up (though please make her of legal age). Fusions of either movie/show verses are totally welcome as are the various characters therein. Otherwise, as long as these two respect and lust after each other, I’m in no matter how you decide to put them on each other’s radars!

 

Whew that’s it, I think! I’m impressed if you managed to read through all of this ridiculously long letter (it topped out at 2100 words which is honestly a record for my Dear Author Letters LOLOLOL), but I totally appreciate it if you did and I’m so so excited to see what you come up with!
