...alone, in the dark, without a cell phone, and without any answer ever to the call button until our building maintenance guys were already getting me out almost an hour later.

So yeah... that happened.

If any one ever wanted to know for writing purposes - yes, yes it really does suck as much as it looks like it would in the movies. Only usually the movies have some kind of emergency light. Two guesses whether or not I had one? Yeah, not so much.

So I'd really love some happy comments/links/gifs. ANYTHING to help me calm down. The campus power came back on maybe 25 minutes after they finally got me out so it doesn't look like everyone's going to be sent home after all. And I'm not sure I'm calm enough to deal with a full work day.

And yeah I'm freaking out. Granted all of my massive writing stuff - I.E. the first novel and the 50k of my psychic solider story - has been saved either via email to people or to my USB back up folder. However I KNOW I have updated the folder since before NaNoWriMo started, so I might have lost all 6+k of the new story and oh yeah, both of the exchange fics I'd started. And one of them is due on the 20th.

I'm really hoping I left it at my second job on Friday as I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but I do have my work USB which would have been plugged in right next to the writing USB. Guess I'll find out this week.

In the mean time, I'm trying to decide if I want to/have time to completely restart the Clint/Tasha SS fic on top of trying to get my 12 Days of Ficmas gifts done too.

And I realized all of this the day I'm recovering from food poisoning and should be at a funeral that I ended up missing due to said food poisoning.

So not my best day.

So today is my day off this week, or well.. half a day off as I have to make up time from the migraine. But either way, I'd say I've done a hell of a lot with my morning!

After getting up for the past couple of months at 5:40 a.m. to work out with my buddy, sleeping in past 7:00 just didn't happen this morning. That meant I was up in time to make it for the early bird special for my oil change and yearly inspection. So cheaper and still was home by 8:15.

Then I thought I'd be brave and tackle mowing the front yard as it was getting rough thanks to the 2 weeks of rain we just had. That didn't take as long as I thought it would, so I managed to get the edging in for what will eventually be a flower bed of some kind to pretty up the yard a little and make it look less like a rent house and more like a home.

Imagine my shock when after doing both of those, it still WASN'T EVEN 10!

So I thought what the hell, I'll attempt the jungle of a backyard.

Now that I didn't finish... Hell I only managed a 1/3 of it. However, considering my yard is pretty large, and I probably covered the ground of that 1/3 at least 5 times to actually force the jungle into submission? I'd say I did a pretty damned good job!

And now it's 11:15 and I have showered and am waiting for my mom to get into town with my dad's dog Moose who'll be my pups' guest for the next week or so.

But yeah, considering I haven't been up more than 4 hours, I've kinda impressed myself. Go me lol.

So my AC is out which is about as much fun in the beginning of summer in Texas as you might guess. It's a whopping 87 degrees IN MY FREAKING HOUSE right now, which is not making it easy for me to concentrate.

I have 25 more pages of Proxy to get done tonight to reach my "by the end of May goal" and it's going to be a challenge to say the least.

At least I get to sleep in a little as the repair guy wont be here until sometime between 8-12, so if worse comes to worst, my happy ass will be staying up till midnight to get it done.

No really, freaking ow!

Apparently on Saturday when I was moving my new exercise bicycle machine ($20 at a garage sale!!!), I managed to hurt myself, and then made it worse probably by sanding and painting the trim of my door later that afternoon.

Starting last night and into this morning, I started having pretty serious mid to upper back pain to the point that I barely slept at all. Then this morning at work, it kept getting progressively worse the longer I sat at my desk.

So I came home and worked on my laptop, alternating between standing at my kitchen counter and laying on my bed. I do seem to be feeling somewhat better, as in hopefully I can actually work AT WORK tomorrow, but we'll see.

I'll prolly be tossing back ibuprofen like candy for a couple days and wearing a permanent skunk stripe in the form of an Icy-Hot patch lol.

Just blah mostly - I've never EVER done anything to myself quite like this. No bueno!

...plus this is really not helping my workout challenge. I'm not doing anything today, and probably won't be able to do much more tomorrow.

BLAH!

So, I've been a little quiet this weekend mostly cuz we ran around like crazy this weekend complete with my mom visiting and we painted and all sorts of stuff and then my

kymyume came and we painted and were pirates at Sherwood Faire and watched the music parts of Glee and accidently butchered my hair when I asked her to trim my bangs. Yeah.... that last part was a mistake. Like whoa.

Eventually there will be pictures when I bother to get them off my camera, but mostly I've been lazy in recovery this week lol.

In other news, I've decided after a talk with

askita my betaluv and co-writer for one of the fics, that I am dropping both of my

crossbigbang fics.

Why you ask? Well remember that Resolution post I did this year? Remember how I specifically stated that I was NOT going to allow fanfic to get in the way of the writing and editing I've done on my original fic? Remember that?

Yeah... that's not going so well. So I decided I needed to at least ditch the massive fic projects on my lap so I can focus.

Maybe, just MAYBE if I'm good and have the majority of Proxy editted by the time

hetbigbang rolls around again, I may allow myself to write for that. It could almost be a tradition or something.

But ONLY if I've gotten enough done on Proxy. Seriously fanfic will still be here when I'm done with that - and it's not like I can't find another dozen Big Bangs going all at once lol.

So yeah. How are the rest of you crazy kids doing?

OH YEAH!!!!! I almost forgot to squeal about this!! Guess who found The Unusuals at Half Price Books for $15!!!!!!! *squees*

So much better weekend than the past couple have been. Definitely more productive at least. Between yesterday and today, I have managed to:

-Finish and post art/mix for angstbigbang
-Finish art/mix for witchesbigbang
-Took a bunch of donation stuff to be sold at a garage sale at sourpony's work
-Read and beta all of askita's angstbigbang story
-Do two loads of laundry
-Make the bed in my guestroom
-Completed another necklace/bracelet combo for the Artcrossing giftgiving comm over on deviantArt
-And last but not least - I FINALLY had my girly doctor's appointment, and we are changing my meds so maybe I can NOT be crazy any more.

So yeah, not too shabby aye?

And considering I've managed to do all of that AND was out drinking till all hours last night at one of the clubs downtown with some of my buddies, I'd say it's all the more impressive. LOL.

Anyways, I'm off to attempt to write on... well something though fuck if I know what yet. My buddy Hoshi is over for a writing night, but my brain is pretty much trying to shut off. So not helpful!

So this is the second weekend in a row I've pretty much accomplished nothing. Like no writing (not even a week drabble), no betaing (which fuck I need to get on that before

askita starts stressing), or either of my two art claims (which FUCK the

angstbigbang posting date is the 10th!) .

So yeah not too fantastic, but then I knew I was feeling off due to the crazy girlie health crap so I sorta gave myself a non-stress weekend which was awesome (And yes for those of you who were encouraging me to do so - I do have a doctor's appointment on Friday so hopefully me and the doc can start figuring out what I need to do to fix this).

I did manage to walk every day this weekend though which is awesome for my New Years fitness goal. And gah, today I actually walked 2 hours for a total of 5 miles with Tristen my workout buddy. My feet are sore as all get out, but it makes me feel a lot less intimidated by the 6 mile Cap 10k fun run/walk I'm doing the last weekend in March with some people I work with.

So yeah, that was good at least. And hey - I did read some delightful fanfic, including a wereworlf SGA epic by darling

irony_rocks and an epic amount of Glee Rachel/Puck fics after

aj recced the hell out of them. Of course, I probably have issues considering that I've seen all of 2 and a half eps of Glee and so probably shouldn't give a crap about the fandom yet, but what can ya do? LOL.

Anyway, I'm mostly babbling but I did have a small request for those of you with more photosearching googlefu than me. My art claim for

witchesbigbang is for The Covenant and I am having a HORRIBLE time finding decent hi res photos for that movie. I specifically need good ones of Chase and Caleb, but I'll go with anything at this point. It's really pretty pathetic actually. So yeah, anyone who can link me and/or email me some decent images will definitely earn themseves a pressie, probably along the lines of a 1k minimum requested fic.

Oh! And does anyone know the normal dimensions for fanmix covers? I just want a rough guage and I'm feeling clueless at the moment.

So today has been a stellar example of why I'd missed my regular 4 10hour day work schedule with Friday's off. I mean seriously, here it is only 11:30 in the morning on Friday, and I have already accomplished a ton of stuff on my to-do list:

-Oil change - done
-Work shoes from Target - bought
-Hair cut - done
-Eyebrows (cuz I suck at doing them myself) - done at the same place I got my hair cut
-Birth control - bought
-Towels - in the dryer
-Sheets - in the washer
-Daily Tarot/Rune drawing - posted

And now I'm settling to try to get some of my writing goals accomplished. Among them is 1-2k on both of my

bigbang_mixup fics, posting the fancast for the Jeremy Renner romantic comedy my betaluv

askita has roped me into and possibly writing the intro for that, possibly writing a journal entry for TED, a songfic for

primeval_vsx, and maybe an answer to my own Tropes/Cliches challenge over at

faketvnetwork. Because I am insane and apparently like long lists of things to do.

Hey all! I have to go cook ham, rolls, and a green bean casserole here in a moment (and I'm a bit terrified to do so by myself lol) but I thought I'd scamper down to the office for a quick update.

Yestarday's travel was 9 hours long but relatively uneventful which is always for the best. I managed to get my Supernatural Secret Santa posted over at DA before I left which was a relief, and today I managed to get another 2

fandom_stocking ficlets done and posted. So far I've done a fanmix, a song rec, and 3 ficlets which has been totally fun! There's only 3 left on my to-do list (unless one of you sends me a link I don't have yet lol), but after I get those three done, I'm definitely going to hit up some of the smaller fandoms on peoples's lists just for the fun of it.

Anyway, hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

Spending that is. Left work early again and I think I've pretty much knocked out my Christmas shopping. I do still have my brother to buy for, but as he wants cologne and I had a hard time smelling them, I'll prolly make him go shop with me lol.

So now I'm home and determined to get one of the Secret Santas finished tonight so freaking help me!!! (And no I didn't get any writing done last night because I am a loser.)

I think I'm going to focus on my Primeval one tonight. I seriously think I'm going to mostly scrap the plot and just go straight for the porn. I mean why not - it's a gift and my person is apparently more than willing to receive some smut. It'll still work with the delightful trope I'm going for too.

Now I'm prolly gonna go read through some of the other stuff I've written for this pairing and see how I can mess with what I've already written to make it go the smut route.

So had a pretty darned productive day so far, though no writing has been accomplished as yet. Mostly a Caity babble entry but feel free to read at will lol.

I got off work early today (as I am FINALLY caught up after being sick.. at this rate I may actually get my department ahead before I have my week of for Christmas) to do some Christmas shopping. Managed to snag gifts for three people, my mom, my aunt (who I drew for our family Secret Santa), and

askita who already knows what she's getting lol. I had 3 other people to shop for before our family Christmas on Saturday, but unfortunately those gifts were a total bust. I really really suck at buying gifts guys. There's a reason I tend to ask for specific things to look for. Blah.

Anyway, came home, paid bills, bought another gift online. Then forced my ass off the couch and managed to get some domestic type stuff done including trimming the kitten's claws, sweeping, starting a load of laundry, and even repairing the faucet knob in my shower and re-hanging a toilet paper holder. I felt all proud of that let me tell ya - not only did I have the proper tools needed, but I even knew what said tools were called! (Hex-key and Phillips head screw drivers btw). Go me being all Handy Cait and stuff.

I may or may not have a friend coming over - her phone has been fried so I didn't get a for sure on our weekly girl night. If she does show, the writing will probably not happen tonight, but I am determined to get something done if we don't hang out.

And can I just say, the Secret Santas are annoying the crap out of me. It's not that I don't like the stories I'm writing, I just have no push TO write them. I dunno - the Supernatural SS is definitely out of my comfort zone, so I could kinda understand the slow rate on that one, but the Primeval one? Totally had the oppurtunity to write one of my go-to pairings AND got to incorporate one of my favorite cliche tropes. That one at least should be working great for me! And god knows I seem to be flying through

fandom_stocking stuff, so I'm not sure what the fuck my problem is.

Hell maybe it's that the SSs were assigned to me where the fandom_stocking stuff is all damned near at random. Plus it has the "random acts of fannish glee" mentality which is probably helping too. *headdesk*

Gah, I just need to get some progress done on those soon. There are deadlines approaching and I really need to try NOT to miss them!

So I've pretty much given up on getting anywhere close to 50k since I wrote next to nothing all weekend. But I had an awesome weekend so that was OK. Happy belated Thanksgiving btw to those of you who celebrate it!

Anyway, I've gotten 400 words on my Primeval Denial Secret Santa, and I think I've solidified my Supernatural Secret Santa enough to dive into it here in the next few days. I decided to just flat scrap what minescule bit I'd completed on chapter 8 of Hart of Wonderland and change the POV, and that definitely seemed to help, as I am now 500 words in in just the past half hour or so.

I'm tempted to keep going, but I had decided to head to bed by no later than 10pm as I'm trying to start working out in the mornings with a friend, and considering I have to be at work at 7:30am, we're talking crack of dawn in the morning. I'm not so thrilled with the hour but damned if I don't REALLY need to do something to actually make some progress on my weight loss goals and feeling healthier again. So yeah, if you want to hear me bitch and moan feel free to ask how the walk/runs are going in the morning. Running+Caity=not so fun, but something's gotta give ya know?

Anyway, I'm going to check over my wishlist comment for

fandom_stocking one last time I think (I've editted waaaaaaaaay too many times already but hey it's my wishlist lol), and then prolly head to bed. Unless I decide to keep writing and make myself a sleep deprived idiot. Lord knows that's probably more likely lol.

So had another set of random really nice things happen today (intermixed with a bit of bad news, but I'm willing to go with the majority here!), and I thought I would share.

First, the owner of our company actually quoted the little book "Everything I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten." Specifically, the section about Friday afternoons being better with cookies and milk. Which he bought for all of us in the office. And sure enough, Friday afternoon was better for them!

Next I found a box in my mailbox containing another box of awesome. All pretty shaped and stained and inscribed and just made of win. We've discussed how much I love mail, so no surprise that I squeed like a loon for that one!

Finally had the bonus of a couple neighbor kids coming around door to door to mow front lawns. For $5 dollars. No really, it was two of them and they only asked for 5 bucks. I gave them 7 and was thrilled about it. They also gave me their number as they do a variety of odd jobs of that sort. This will save me having to buy a lawn mower for quite a while I think, and save me labor when I fianlly put in a flower bed in the front of my house!

So yeah, pretty good day! I'm getting ready to re-settle into writing for the evening. My goal is to have the next chapter of Hart of Wonderland done by the end of the weekend, so wish me luck.

I'm also still (and probably for a while) taking prompts for the Tell Me a Story meme, and I'll prolly work on those in between bouts of batshit crazy Cheshire. 'Course at least one calls for a slight crazy River with alcohol....

So yes I'm spamming LJ this morning, but it's my journal so I can lol. Anyway I'm off today because I have jury duty this afternoon (which is weird as everyone I know has always been called in the morning but who knows?), and I've already gotten a ton of stuff done and it's barely 10:00.

The pest control guy came right at 8, so I'm all settled and anti-bugged for the next two months which is great as the colder weather usually forces the creepy crawlies indoors, and here is Texas we have TONS of creepy crawlies in a plethora of many-legged varieties.

In a similar vein, it was time to put the flea/tick/mosquito drops on the fuzzies again, and while they're not fond of it, we all MUCH prefer that to flea attacks.

I've paid ALL THE BILLS for this month, so while my bank account looks rather sadface, it won't look any less sadface except for fun stuff. And you know food, but that's doable.

Also on the money side of things, I went up to the bank to see about changing the type of checking account I've got in hopes of avoiding the fees I've finally started noticing as my budget gets tighter. And I was forcibly reminded of why I occasionally like my bank. Not only did I not have to change anything on my end (as the lady did some quick checking and my mortgage will now wave all fees on the checking account), but they refunded all of the fees back to when I signed on for the mortgage! So now I have extra money in my account that I wasn't counting on which is always fun. I'll have to figure out something fun to do with it... though I suppose I should be good and just toss it on the credit card. Maybe I'll compromise and do half fun and half responsible.

In LJ land, I posted the answer to my Number Meme and finally got around to doing a daily draw which I've been lax on the past few days and managed to pull my signature card which is always a sign for a good day me thinks!

But yeah, quite a few things checked off this week's to-do list so I'm feeling pretty good about today!

In other more NaNo news, I didn't write a damned thing last night again, but I think I know why. I've decided to try to go off Dr. Peppers (or at least significant cut back) again, because I was drinking a stupid amount. Which is bad for my weight and for my wallet. So yeah, cutting down is definitely a good thing, but as I don't really enjoy anything else with caffiene, I'm having a hard time focusing and may be for a little while until I wean myself off of it. This is probably why I did so well with the mass of Karl ficlet options - I had an excuse to let my writing brain be totally scattered and it worked for me.

I probably just need to open 4-5 word docs again and just flash from one to another. That seems to work for me. And hey, I don't have to be at jury duty until 1:30, so I've got a couple hours to try to write right now. And added bonus, I can take my laptop into the courthouse until I'm actually sitting on a jury (if I even get selected), so I can probably get some writing done then. So yeah, Caity is determined and stuff!

BTW, for those of you who care - the Reaper!Vaako fic has come out ahead in the poll so I'll be starting that as well. Bring on the eyeliner!Karl!

That said, I am now desperately in the mood to write steamy style ficlets and so am offering drabble requests! I'm up for anything from my FakeTV Ticking Heart to a steampunk AU version of one of my fandoms, to even a request from a steampunk inspired show/movie that you like but I haven't talked about before. Trust me: there's a good bet I've watched it or am trying to find it lol. So yeah! Bring on the requests!

...so I've rethought the title of this journal and am now aware that it looks like I'm offering porn drabbles. But I'm not. So there. Or... er... only if they're STEAMPUNK porn drabbles. So there.
