Whew! Got my NPT assignment finished and posted FINALLY just barely half an hour before it was due. That was probably pushing it a little closer to the wire than I should have but oh well.

It will DEFINITELY need betaing, but at least a have a few days for edits before reveals. I kinda want to try for treats too, but we'll just have to see how it goes with the muse. And lord knows I still only have like... 1.5k of the 10k I will need to have completed for HetBang, so I might need to prioritise that over treats LOL. We shall see.

So, I am seriously debating on doing Dredd fic for

het_bigbang (assuming I can figure out a plot...eek) (really this is mostly an excuse to finally buy it), and I realized I have no Dredd or Cassandra icons. I did a little looking around, but all the ones I've found seemed to be not for sharing :(

Anyone have a link or some icons they'd be willing to share? *puppy dog eyes*

So I'm definitely dropping the massive 25k challenge for

het_bigbang but several of the terribly horrible delightful enablers (you two know who you are!! *givesstinkeye*) over there reminded me that there is a 10k minibang option that does not require a check in and won't end up with an author being shorted out of a story at the end if I fail.

So now I'm thinking it sounds like fun to just try to sprint a fic out over the next week or so, but I am totally UTTERLY blank about what pairing to even write for. And lord knows it's really hard to try to come up with a plot if I don't even have a pairing!

So yeah, all of you who can toss me some het pairing suggestions, you will be my heroes like whoah. As always Jeremy Renner and Karl Urban usually get my brain flowing like crazy, and crossovers are too much fun for words.

Now just remember, I will only be writing a long fic for one of these, but I may drabble on the others!

So I am off ALL of next week which is freaking awesome, even more so because my betaluv

askita will be arriving tomorrow to stay for the rest of my staycation.

I did have to go in for 5 hours of overtime this morning, but after that the day took a rather lovely turn.

My dad decided (in a sober moment no less!) to transfer money to my bank account so I could treat myself to getting my car detailed so that when I'm driving my chicas around they won't be stuck in the horrendously dirty car. It took like an hour longer than they said, but seriously this is the cleanest my car has been since BEFORE I bought it. Like, my windows were tripping me out because they were clear enough that I literally could not see them! LOL.

...course now it looks like it's going to rain, but hey we needed it, and better yet, this place actually gives 4 day rainchecks where you can go back with you receipt and get a do-over if it rains. Whoot!

Also, they had free concessions for a charity donation AND a chair massage guy that worked for tips. My 10-15 minute massage ended up closer to 30 as no one else was waiting for one. I tipped him $15 and felt it was well well worth it!

So now I'm home again and trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my weekend. I really DESPERATELY need to work on my

het_bigbang story as I have only 3k of the 25k required, but I'm having a hard time getting inspiration for the part 2 of the 6 parts. Tis a quandary but hopefully I can push past it.

Second fing! On a similar BigBang related note, I am DETERMINED to get some more of my

het_bigbang fic going this weekend. I have a whopping 1100 words of the required 28k and I just need to get my ass in gear already damn it! To help me with it, I've joined up with

fic_rush which is basically a 48 hour marathon of fanfic insanity that started roughly 20 minutes ago. I'm totally diving in for Hour 2 and my goal is to at the VERY least get the first "chapter" done. And with 6 chapters to take up the total 25, that's roughly 4 k min per chapter. So 3k for the weekend is my very very lowest goal. I will love it if I kick that goal's ass of course, but for now, that's the plan. Of course the farther I get with the writing, the closer I get to these two stupid faces on each other's stupid faces. How's that for some encouragement??

Third fing! I will not be only writing this weekend though - as I have lots to do around the house as *insertsdrumgirlandflailycaity* week after next my betaluv

askita is invading my house for the whole week!!! She is even in Texas as we speak which gets me all flaily. The crazy fangirls shall unite! Which could equal massive amounts of mayhem, possible Avengers drinking games, and for sure a postapocalyptic photoshoot with several OTHER fangirls including my other best chica the darling

kymyume. Sadly Kym couldn't get off work so we only have her in our clutches for the weekend. But that's probably for the best. I think the universe might implode if we had the three of us in one spot for longer than that. But yeah, so I'll be puttering around the house in between writing sprints. Here's hoping I can be all kinds of productive!

Fourth fing! OK so I totally did a fangirl cave and bought The Cape. You know that epically cheesy comicbook style show that got cut after only 10 eps? Yeah I totally did. Though in my defense it was only because my mother had a $15 Barnes and Nobles gift card she couldn't use, and the DVD was exactly that. And yes I know just how bad of a sign it is that the show was only $15 to buy lol. I just.. gah it's too much fun. Plus once again, I had shipper thoughts like whoa. Shame the fandom is so tiny and the current members of the fandom were lead by such a possessive bitch. I'd love to actually write for it but after being told what I "wasn't allowed to write in their fandom" I have a hard time working up the effort. But the scenery's still pretty, so I'll prolly be able to have it on for mindless fun. For reasons... namely these two:

seren_ccd How do you always manage to have five whole fings??? Oh! I managed to win actual money off of 2 scratch off lottery tickets in a row for a total of $28 bucks! Hows that for random? I never EVER win money. I am crossing my fingers though - I also dropped off a box fan today for my favorite radio station's fan drive for the elderly. Every person who donated gets put in a drawing for a new Heating/AC system. I highly HIGHLY doubt I will win, but man that would be awesome if I did!!!

So I'm actually making progress on editing Proxy all of a sudden (weird that I can apparently edit on a migraine even though I can't write through one to save my life), so participation in

het_bigbang this year is looking a LOT more likely.

That said though, I cannot come up with a het plot bunny to save my life right now. No really - everything I've got on the back burner seems to be gen right now. It's kinda odd frankly. I could maybe come up with something OC centric - but even with that as an option, I'm coming up blank.

So that said, do any of you have a bunny from the fandom list below that you'd be willing to let me write for Hetbang? Or even that's NOT on the list below, but that we've talked about enough to know that I could probably write for?

I'm removing Aliens since I did it for Hetbang last year and Push since I just finished up a Nick/Cassie fic for

bigbang_mixup, but other than that it's pretty much free range.

Dear god bless me it is FINALLY finished at just over 26,000 words. I'm so totally thrilled I can't even begin to say. And bonus of the extra thousand word cushion if my beta finds too much ridiculous babble to leave in. I still have to edit it and all, but gah.. just so stinking giddy that I actually managed to get it done this weekend like I'd hoped! The fic won't go live until the 30th, btw. So sorry I can't share it yet!

Anyway thanks to everyone who cheered/offered bribes/promised to squee over it once I was finished. You all have no idea how awesome you are. So, with that said: on to the pretties!

So, I knew early on that I would need quite a few side characters to round out the cast no matter what direction this story went in. And considering I'm writing fanfiction anyway, I decided to just shift over people from some of the other fandoms I haunt. I mean really, why the hell not?

OK guys, here's the deal. I am stuck at 21,135 on my het_bigbang, and frankly I HAVE TO GET THE DAMN THING FINISHED!!! I only have one last chapter in Hick's POV to do, but it's been fighting me, and by God it's time for me to win the battle.

So yeah, I WILL have a completed rough draft by this weekend. Cuz my beta needs time to get through the whole thing, and I want time for final edits after that, and the whole thing has to be turned in by the 24th.

Just a heads up for yall though, I'm going silent until the draft is done. I'll probably answer comments, but I'm flat out deleting any journals that come in my email update. I'll have a lot of LJ to catch up with later but oh well.

Interestingly, my internet at home has chosen to go down right now too. This is probably a good thing, huh?

So, I was doing the math in my head and realized just how many writing projects I really wanted to try to do this weekend. It's a little scarey, but hey it's only Thursday. I can do this.

1. Hit 20k on "From the Last to the First" - this was terrifying to think of on Monday, but as I just hit 18k last night, this is totally doable.

2. Next chapter of Hart of Wonderland - I haven't managed to write much on HoW during the week this month, but weekend mornings seem to rock in my Primeval/Alice brain, so not worried about this one really either!

(The rest of these are in no particular order really. I just put numbers because they make it look all pretty and organized.)

3. Primeval ficlet for Kyle Michaels during Convergence - I've been talking this one up to whuffle like crazy, and she made me the pretty icon, so I ought to actually get going on this!

4. Doom 5 places fic for askita for a belated B-day fic: This one has been in my brain for over a year now, and damned if I don't want it just down on paper and out of my to-do list lol.

5. Steampunk drabble for alex_kade - no definite fandom for this yet so it could be a bit exciting. We'll see lol.

6. "Working Title" Challenge fic for M7Land - technically have till the 26th for this, so there's a good chance this'll get pushed to the end of the list.

7. River/Riddick "after the fight" kissmeme drabble for askita - as this is 2nd for her in my to-do list, this may also wait a bit. Assuming the muse agrees with my logic.

8. New FakeTV for urbancate tentatively titled "Period Drama" - this has been on the backburner for a while so I really want to get it done. I figure I can do one character profile in between all the other ficstuff and make some easy headweay.

So... umm.. did I miss anything? Is anyone waiting on drabble requests I somehow lost in the shuffle? Is anyone WANTING a drabble request? lol Let me know guys!

So my grand total as of last night was 13, 622 on "From the Last to the First" so considering my word cound when I sent out the call for inspriation was 10, 888 I made considerably progress. Not as much as I might have liked to but still that's 2735 words over the course of the weekend.

So, my plan is to have the first draft finished by the end of August so that I can get it to my beta and have plenty of time for any re-writes and polishing.

I did the math, and I can complete 25k by then if I pull off 495 words per day. I can do this. I KNOW I can do this.

OK kiddies, thought I'd give yall an update on the Het_BigBang madness! I know I've been a bit distracted by Primeval pretties, but for the rest of the weekend, I intend to focus on Ripley/Hicks absolutely as much as possible.

First up, I have some awesome news, at least in my opinion: I ACTUALLY HAVE A TITLE!!!!!!!!! Gah took me long enough didn't it?

Yes, it's borrowed from what has apparently become the story's rough theme song: 30 Seconds to Mars "This is War." Trust me it's about as perfect as it could be, right down to a line that just flat spells out all four of our survivors: "To the solider, the civilian, the martyr, the victim... this is war."

Anyway, so yeah, I can has theme song and everything, however, I apparently have no momentum when it comes to actually WRITING for some reason. I was even up and all gung ho this morning, but nothing is being accomplished.

Usually when that happens I can pop in the movie again or go look for fics to reward myself with for making progress, but I've watching the movie half a dozen times now and the collection on FFN is mostly littered with Alien or Predator by OC Mary Sue beastiality fics and very VERY little actual Ripley/Hicks stuff.

So do you think any of you could help me out with some inspiration? I'm talking icons, pics, even little baby drabbles on the subject. Just anything that might make my muse go YAY!!

So I have rather awesome news for my Het_BigBang. I managed to hit 11.5k the other night, so word count has been awesome recently!

Unfortunately, that 11k was still relatively plotless until oh...about an hour ago when I had a total brain bunny kick in which hopefully could be AWESOME!!

Think interrogations, and Hicks's old NCO and another squad of Marines and company coverups and escaps and and and... seriously, not sure how I'm ending this one either, but I think it could be awesome. (And yes

seren_ccd , part of this is thanks to you and one single line on the meme you just did.. so thank you and DAMN YOU!!!!)

Cuz yeah, here's the bad news. Of the 11k I currently have finished, it's probable that only the first 7 or so will be useable for the new plot.

*headdesk*

I may be able to recycle more of it later on in the story, but that's not a sure thing right now. So while I was feeling awesomely capable of knocking the rest of the story out in plenty of time, I'm now going to be on a bit of a crunch to get this out properly by Sept. 1st.

I do know I can do it though, and probably long before that so

askita has time to beta everything. Luckily she's finally got a copy of the movie and should be able to sit down and enjoy relatively soon. After that I can probably send a chapter at a time as I finish it, so I won't have to worry QUITE as much about finishing very early in August.

Still though. Not totally happy with my brain taking this long to kick into gear. Oh well, at least I really enjoy the parts that ARE usable, so I can be proud of those I think.

Now to try desperately to make up some ground. Though really, I'd hoped to have at least 13k by Sunday night, and I highly doubt that's going to happen, but who knows... I have managed crazy word counts before. When the muse behaves. *shrug*

Gotta say, it's probably a good thing I have no plans this weekend.

So, I've managed to finish the first "chapter" or so of my Big Bang fic finally and have moved on to the 2nd. I'm not sure how proud I'm feeling of my progress though. It's up to 4K, which while cool I have 4K, is there not quite as far as I'd hoped to be right now. Plus, I'm almost worried it's sounding boring so far.

The first chapter is in Hicks' POV, and then I'm switching to Ripleys. Weirdly enough, I felt more comfortable in Hicks' head than her's. Usually I have a hell of a time writing from a male POV, so maybe that's throwing me a bit.

Blah, I don't really know. Maybe I'm just in a blah mood in general and thus am not feeling as proud of it so far. I think I could use a little cheerleading to pull me out of the funk frankly.

That said: would anyone like to take a look at what I have so far? I'd have to email it to you, of course, but I'd be grateful as hell. My beta-of-awesomeness

Basically: give me a pairing from a fandom I'm familiar with (Fake TV counts too lol), and then a 1 word prompt. I'll give you a 3 sentence ficlet. It's just that simple kids.

Now that we've got that settled, on with the snippet!

Hicks licked his lips again and then he painfully cracked open his right eye. It felt sticky, almost sealed shut, and he winced at the sheer effort it took to drag it all he way open. His vision swam for a moment, but then it cleared, revealing what must have been two of the most beautiful sights he’d seen in quite a while.

Curled up have on the bed next to him was a grubby little angel, all but lost in what was likely one of his shirts and one hand clutching his like a lifeline. Her eyes were huge and worried in that tiny face, and he tried to smile away a little of that worry. Newt, his mind whispered, memory flooding back through him at the sight of her face. She was alive. That fact brought a stronger smile to his face. It faded slightly as he remembered just why he was so relieved to see her alive. Last thing he remembered, she’d been taken. Taken to the nest to become another host for those disgusting things. There hadn’t been much hope of getting her back. Not much hope at all. That she was here at all meant…

His eye tracked right from the young girl to the woman beside her. His gaze drifted across pale skin and dark curls to a striking face and brown eyes staring down at him. Just a trace of a smile pulled at her lips, and once again Hicks felt an answering smile appear on his own face. Maybe a little bruised, maybe tired as hell. But she was still standing, and a lot more steady than he was right now. Yeah, he thought, she could definitely handle herself.
