So, even though I only managed 79,993 instead of the 150k I pledged to write, I still managed 79,993 words this past year with the encouragement of:

So, I'm gonna do it again this year, same level. I'd love to hear if some of my LJ buddies join in! It really was hella encouraging and kicked my tail into gear on this writing front. I fully expect to do even better next year ;)

I'm totally pledging the 75k level this go around. Damn issues cropping up and making it hard to write.

Yeah I can understand that feeling. I was tempted to do that one too with my wrist issues. But I figure since I managed to beat that number this year, I should really strive for more than that, ya know?

I may definitely take advantage of that option in the future though.

I'm taking advantage of it because I think I'm topping out the year at less than 40k -- so if I only have 75k to shoot for, it may not feel so horribly overwhelming and I may finish it after all.

And then if they run it in 2016, I can step it up a level if I feel comfortable. Because by God I'm determined to meet my pledge SOME year, lol.

That makes total sense to me!

And yeah, just a little increase every year is the way to go! Keep stretching your limits, but don't overwhelm yourself and kill your creativity :)

That is BRILLIANT! I'm still at it. I'm up to nearly 147,000. Most of it has just been random snippets most days, but it adds up. I hope to finish this weekend.

GO US!

*does dance* Definitely wasn't what I'd hoped, but I've sorta figured out my best writing time during the day. And at least looking back, I know which months were the worst for me, and I can try to push through.

And man you are kicking butt! Can't wait to see what all those words add up to eventually :)

WE ROCK!

Give me a rundown of it. I went to their website and got a little overwhelmed.

It's super easy - basically you just pick a level to pledge at, and that's your word goal for the year. They'll do the math for you (Like for my 150k pledge, it's an average of 411 a day), and that's the amount you try to write that year.

You then click the "join community" button, and once they verify that you've pledged, you'll be added to the comm.

From that point on during 2015, you'll have access to their support and challenge posts.

The only thing you HAVE to do is make sure you fill out their check in posts at the end of every month with your current word count.

There's no penalty for not making your pledged wordcount, btw. The only thing that can bar you from the challenge the following year is missing 3 check ins in a row. That's about it, I think?

Did you see this post? http://getyourwordsout.livejournal.com/278102.html It should have most of the info you need.

If you need me to call to chat about it at lunch, I can do that too. :)
