First of all – DON’T PANIC! Seriously, I have no doubts that I will love whatever you write. Just the fact that you are writing for any of these pairings in the first place will make me ridiculously happy. Also, I just love gifts in general, so I’ll be chuffed to get a prize of any shape and size.
I know this letter will likely be ridiculously long and meta-y as again I love these fandoms, but don’t let that scare you off. If none of the prompts/like lists work for you, feel free to ignore them. The only thing I do ask is that my no-thanks list be avoided if all at possible. Other than that though, do whatever the muse tells you!
Yes, please: Post-apocalypse fic, slice of life/domestic fic (if you can manage both post-apocalyptic AND domestic I will bow to your greatness lol), epistolary stories, teamfics, found family, crossovers (particularly any of these fandoms/pairings as that could be awesome), AUs (particularly coffee shop, Black Jewels trilogy, daemons, steampunk/neo-Victorian, Sentinel/Guide, Old West, and Pacific Rim fusions), outsider POVs, supernatural elements, badass chicks and men who respect/lust after them for it, fixit fics to bring back killed off characters, fics where characters have kids and are adorable parents. Also, I am a total music junkie so anything incorporating that would be welcome! Optional Details Re Crossovers: Optional as always, but I am a definite fan of crossovers. I know it's always a treat to me to see those options available in someone's letter, so I figured I'd specifically mention it could be fun here if you are as much of a crossover junkie as I am and know multiple fandoms I've requested. Really anything could be fabulous. So on to crossover prompts if you choose to accept them:
Where would Hermione fit in the Shatterdome? Would she be working in a lab like Newt and Herman or piloting a Jaeger of her own with *insert your fave chara from either fandom* beside her? Hermione/Herc could definitely appeal to my May-December romance kink!
Crossing over The Hobbit could get a little more difficult unless you go into the AU route, though I could definitely see Bilbo as a Shire born thrown into chaos after Thorin-the-Entitled of Erebor (and at least 300 years old thanks to Regenx ala Jupiter Ascending) crashlands into his life. Or how would splices translate into the Shire? Would Caine be a new sort of ranger or considered just one step up from Orcs and completely unsuitable for elven or human royalty Jupiter?
Pacific Rim/Jupiter Ascending crossovers of any type at all featuring Herc and/or Jupiter/Caine would make me squee like a loon.
I could also totally see Caine as an abnormal, and Jupiter somehow knowing Helen and taking him there to find a pack in a similarly packless Henry. Or even just bonding over the fact that they've both found packs with the non-lycan men and women who've gathered around them. Jupiter taking lessons in self-defense from Ashley could also be a blast.
Harry Potter – Hermione Granger
Really there are too many things that I love about this character to name. She’s terribly brave, fiercely loyal, absolutely brilliant, and almost painfully practical. I really just want to be Hermione when I grow up.
So what would I love for her? Future fic for sure! Did she grow up to be a Potions or Charms mistress, or to teach at Hogwarts? Is she an Auror or Unspeakable with the Ministry? Is she off on another adventure we Muggles can only imagine? That said, I’m really not behind her canon-future as Ron Weasley’s housewife. They were probably the only canon couple that just didn’t appeal to me at all. I just couldn’t catch the chemistry there at all, and the fact that she was his second choice for so long at Hogwarts just made me hurt for her. I could however see her paired up with Harry (the sheer amount of handholding in the films and her constant support and his RECOGNIZING that support really sold me on this one), Draco (a trying-to-redeem himself Draco preferred), or Severus Snape (obviously he’d have to have survived the final battle. Also, please age her up so it’s legal – I’m not into teacher/student relationships). If you are into femmeslash, I could go for Hermione/Luna. Also welcome would be crossovers (gen or shippy) with any of the other fandoms I’ve requested here. Hermione has such a fantastic potential for success just about anywhere I think.
Oh! One final thing – I am not fond of Dark Lord Wins AUs. I prefer happy endings for this fandom.
The Hobbit – Bilbo Baggins, Thorin
First off, I am so TOTALLY in the “everybody lives” camp with this one. Please leave everybody still alive and well after the Battle of the Five Armies!
But yeah, other than the unfortunate demises, is there anything not to love about this book and/or movie (well that and the lack of female characters – but that’s a rant for another exchange LOL). The scenery was gorgeous, the characters and races are so wonderfully fleshed out. Really anything would make me happy – shippy, gen, or otherwise. I really enjoy the idea of all the politics between all the races, and something relating to the mop after the BoFA and how the elves/men/dwarves/Bilbo sort out medical care and boundary lines really intrigues me.
I am very much a Thorin/Bilbo shipper, and one of the rare genderswaps that I actually enjoy is always-a-girl!Bilbo. Tolkien does leave out the ladies on occasion, and the idea of the unlikely hero who comes through to save the day in this world being a home-loving lady just makes me happy.
Specific things I love about Thorin - his voice (seriously the song in the first movie had my jaw dropping - anything incorporating dwarven musical culture, singing, or the fact that he cannonically plays the harp would be fun), his role as an uncle while still trying to be king, crafting/blacksmithing, how/why he learned the sword instead of the more traditional axe.
Specific things I love about Bilbo - waistcoats, Sting, the fact that he's totally an in-canon fic writer for his own journey, inter-species political master mind, sneaky little-so-and-so, cooking ALL THE THINGS.
One specific thing I would request NOT to get this round (as I got it last round LOL) is a Pacific Rim AU for this pairing. Otherwise feel free to go wild!
Jupiter Ascending – Jupiter Jones, Caine Wise
So I FINALLY managed to see this movie in a dollar theater and I just flat out loved it. Caine and Jupiter’s slow building relationship was a delight, and I was blown away by all of the world building and scenery and just everything really. Plus, GRAVITY SKATES! Those looked like blast though man my scare-of-heights self would be freaked out. So what do I want for this fandom? I’d love a post-movie sequel-esque fic with what happens next. I’m really bummed that as yet a sequel isn’t planned, because there was so much left to be told. I would like the focus on Jupiter and Caine as a couple, but I’m totally OK with shenanigans with Jupiter’s family (whether knowing or unknowing of Jupiter’s Queen of Earth status) or more interactions with Stinger and his daughter. Basically just build on what we got in the movie and I’ll be thrilled. I loved it – I just want MOAR! LOL
ETA: Aslo, since it's showing up on AO3 and I didn't realize how much I wanted it until it was posted there: I would really REALLY be on board with some Jupiter as FemDom and Caine as service!sub. As I mentioned above, I'm not a huge fan of painplay - but tieing up and worshipping sounds really really delightful.
Pacific Rim – Hercules Hansen
I enjoyed basically the entire cast of this movie, but really Herc’s who I’m focused on for this exchange. Something about Max Martini just kept my attention no matter who was on screen with him, and considering the gorgeous cast, that’s saying a helluva lot.
That said, I would LOVE some het-smut for him if you fancy that as there is very little to be found for him. Pairing wise, I’m good with Angela (everybody lives much? *grin*), Mako, or even trio’d up with the Kaidanosky couple and/or Mako and Raleigh together. Hell, I’d be thrilled with a semi-anonymous OC too! Just make him the focus of attention please.
Also, if you want to go the cannon character deaths route, I really would love to see him get some kind of closure and healing after the film, whether on his own, or with Raleigh and Mako supporting him as friends (or even as lovers). Also, we know we’re getting a sequel at some point – what do you think would happen for Herc if that movie hits? Does he dive back into the battle as a pilot or help to lead a renewed Shatter Dome? Or does he wrestle with returning at all?
Basically, I’d just like Herc as the focus of a fic that ends up on at least a hopeful if not outwardly happy note.
Sanctuary – Ashley Magnus, Henry Foss
This show was just a laundry list of all the things I love best in fic, from the badass ladies, to the cryptids/Abnormals, to the Steampunk details showing up in Helen’s history and all of Henry’s tech. Just too much fun!
This is definitely another one where I ship it like Fedex. All through the first season I hoped this pairing might end up happening. Henry was so blatantly crushing on his young buddy, but never pushed at her, and I really liked that aspect to their relationship. Plus I thought they made a really interesting partnership with her being the one physically stronger at first glance, but only because he chose not to embrace the physical side of his shape shifting. Plus courtship through fun weaponry just made me smile like a loon.
I’d been good with a pre-Ashley’s abduction fic or an AU where she survived or was found alive. Mostly I just want to see these two being adorable together.
Don’t be too intimidated by the overly-shippy prompt, though. I’d be great with Abnormal Hunter!Bros with these two, as well.
