NaNoWriMo Madness Ahead!! Plus Poll (hopefully)

OKAY FOLKS! So my muse kicked into high gear on my novel, and I think I can half the rough draft done this weekish. No really. So yeah, that means I CAN in fact do NaNoWriMo as I have the past 4 years in a row which is awesome.[Poll #1789728]

So yeah, help a sister out here guys! And comments have been known to sway me away from the tally.. just a warning/bribe lol.

i'm *planning* on doing nano again but my sister is pretty much plotless so far. I need to focus on it.

OH and I might be attending the kickoff costume party again this year in Austin. I went last year with my sister and her friends but I just kind of sat there looking at the comic books and eating candy :D

Yeah I either have a massive epic planned or absolutely nothing plotwise when it comes to Nano. I'm trying for a bit of both with these FakeTVs - gives me options and a concept, but the plot itself is up to me ya know?

And very fun! I'm actually going to be down in San Marcos. Which is sad cuz I always wish I could manage it!

No idea about the chaos_thon - but this is based off the Meme that went around where people give you 7 random actors and then you make a show premise and character bios for it. Tis totally freaking addictive, and a great way to get a plot and then leave it alone if need be.

Anyway! You can click on the FakeTV tag and get to see the whole big posts/picspams for all of these, but rough rundown is thus:

Ticking Heart - Weird West steampunk set just post an AU Civil War that came to a draw
If We Shadows - High fantasy - man escapes a Fae mound to discover years have past and he goes for revenge
Taking Eden - Postapocalyptic set roughly Texas Hill Country with a ranch trying to survive and fight off male gangs looking for Eves and a religious cult
No Man's Land - Sci-Fi/Fantasy - team of people with histories/identities erased travel to the mythic lands to fight.. something? Think Charlies Angels and Sanctuary crossoverish? lol
Period Drama - the drama backstage as a production company tries to film a period drama
Counting Crows - Vampire fic with prophecies galore though I have no idea what the prophecies actually mean lol
Powers That Be - Six survivors of a plane crash end up with superpowers
The Dark Horse - horse racing mystery ala Dick Francis
Our Own Private Zoo - a collection of cryptids and the freaks who care for them

So yeah, little bit of an eclectic mix lol.

Ahhh Chaos_thon was from after the first, maybe second time that meme went around. I can't recall. I do recall enabling Irony to start the comm for doing it again and making it a challenge so we all got fic out of it.

Either you brought your own prompt from the meme, or the mods gave you a new one, then you had to create a character bible and then write a fic which would be an episode.

I wanted to call it "Showrunner" or something but IR didn't understand that was actually a real word XD ( she also didn't know that what we were essentially doing, was writing story bibles for TV, lol, but by then she'd already made the comm and people were joining. IR tends to be a HUGE enabler XD)

Yeah there were two versions that I saw - one where you got actors and another where you got the premise. I don't acutally think I ever got that one... hmmm

...I also have never heard the term "story bible" but I'll go with it lol

I know I got both of 'em at some point.

"Story bible", "show bible", "character bible": they're all the same thing.

(and if you are familiar and are just splitting hairs on terminology, then please disregard the following) it's a document that lays out the premise and characters in a TV show and includes important details. Casting sheet info is culled from this data. Set construction information can begin here too. In animated series this is where they put character concepts and turn arounds if they have 'em. It's a development document that helps communicate the central vision to everyone who is working on the show. It can be used as a pitch document and after production it often gets updated with new facts about the show so there is continuity and a maintained clarity of vision. They're mostly important when you're getting something up and running, or when you're breaking in a new writer.
