I really truly believe that John and Sam fulfill the old asian legend where twins are soulmates who were so close that they were reborn in the same womb (and yes I know I was pathetic but I wrote like...3500 words on just that subject lol http://hiddencait.livejournal.com/6513.html ). I just cannot look at these two and their stupid faces and think siblings. They totally understand each other without words, which is possibly why they wound each other so easily when they do have a conversation out loud.

They were each other's first kiss back on Olduvai when no one really cared to tell them it was wrong, and really after that they never could find a kiss (or anything beyond a kiss) that felt as right. They're part of each other, and they'll never be anything else.

In the long run, Sam may turn herself if only because John will never ask her to, and she can't stand the thought of John alone. They may live separately from time to time over the centuries just because damn if seeing one person every day doesn't get tiring even for soulmates, but they will never really love anyone else and they will always find their way back to each other.

And... and this is again just my head!cannon, the only other person either of them can ever love enough to share will be Jim Kirk, and he is the only one they will ever tell the truth. If only to explain why they both suddenly decide to bite him in the midst of a "death or death" situation.

Oh jeeze the MASSIVE amount of headcannon I have for these two is just frightening...

Contrary to popular gossip around SHEILD, Coulson was NOT the agent who dragged Clint into the fold. He's just the agent who actually respected Barton first, and in turn won Clint's begruding respect. He's also the agent who had Clint's back when he turned with with a deceptively delicate redhead who'd tried to kill him two months back and who the higher ups were fairly sure Barton had actually been told to kill.

It's just trust at first, but that is in such short supply for any kind of agent. And when it shifts from trust to lust, both are fairly oblivious.

It takes Tasha locking them both in a closet before either of them catch a clue. Not that they stay in the closet long, of course. They are highly trained agents after all lol.

Oh Tasha my Tasha.

A random AU that bounced in my head had her cast is probably the most perfect way: The Patchwork Girl ala Oz. She's been so many people so many times both during and after the Red Room phase of her life, that most days Tasha isn't totally sure who she really is.

That doesn't particularly matter to her as much as it does to the few people she trusts. They spend their time helping her seek out moments of personal identity and preference (Clint was the one who helped her figure out she really truly loves old Hepburn movies - particularly the musicals), and she spends her time making sure she knows her men better than herself. Clint and Coulson are her talismans and touchstones - as long as they are themselves, she can begin to understand who they see in her.

If any of that makes sense at all lol.
