Het_BigBang update + call for inspiration please?

OK kiddies, thought I'd give yall an update on the Het_BigBang madness! I know I've been a bit distracted by Primeval pretties, but for the rest of the weekend, I intend to focus on Ripley/Hicks absolutely as much as possible.

First up, I have some awesome news, at least in my opinion: I ACTUALLY HAVE A TITLE!!!!!!!!! Gah took me long enough didn't it?

Title: From the Last to the First
Yes, it's borrowed from what has apparently become the story's rough theme song: 30 Seconds to Mars "This is War." Trust me it's about as perfect as it could be, right down to a line that just flat spells out all four of our survivors: "To the solider, the civilian, the martyr, the victim... this is war."

Seriously it's awesome. Still don't believe me? Here, just listen: Here's hoping I can manage to properly embed the video!! (oh and enjoy the bonus of Jared Leto in soldier garb. Well worth it me thinks!)

Anyway, so yeah, I can has theme song and everything, however, I apparently have no momentum when it comes to actually WRITING for some reason. I was even up and all gung ho this morning, but nothing is being accomplished.

Usually when that happens I can pop in the movie again or go look for fics to reward myself with for making progress, but I've watching the movie half a dozen times now and the collection on FFN is mostly littered with Alien or Predator by OC Mary Sue beastiality fics and very VERY little actual Ripley/Hicks stuff.

So do you think any of you could help me out with some inspiration? I'm talking icons, pics, even little baby drabbles on the subject. Just anything that might make my muse go YAY!!

I'm sure there's some Ripley/Hicks fic on the Yuletide archive (pre-AO3). Have you tried AO3?

Now that's my kind of friendship lol. And that's awesome. I can do drabbles as bribes, but graphics tend to mess with me a bit.

I do have a few Aliens icons, but I can always do with more!

...and I'm beginning to realize I need to go ahead and get a damn paid account for more pretties.. oh well lol

Ripley had never been one to daydream or dwell. Even prior to everything she'd been one to take charge, do the job and move on.

That, however, didn't mean she couldn't sppreciate things. And at that particular moment, she was appreciating Corporal Dwayne Hicks. The way his eyes swept the corridor, the way his hands held his gun in a deceptively loose manner, the way the muscles of his shoulders shifted beneath his shirt. He reminded her of pictures she'd seen as a child of wolves, rangy and alert, always watching.

She wondered how it would feel to have that focus switched to her, those hands on her.

She glanced up and noticed that he was looking at her with the same amount of intensity that she'd been using to study him.

Then he smirked.

She smirked.

And it occurred to her, she wasn't dwelling and it wasn't merely appreciation.

It was anticipation.

She could deal with that.

And I ended up getting a little over 1000 words last night and am gearing up to write again. I decided to just skip ahead to the epilogue for the oppurtunity for smut lol. Strangely enough, it's also helping me narrow down the plot too. Who knew? lol.

They are doing an Aliens prequel called Prometheus which is scheduled to hit theaters next year, and your favorite Fassbender is in it!!!

I HEARD ABOUT THAT MOVIE! I am EXCITE. EEEEEE! I think he plays a cyborg. *bounces*

I've been jumping around with my fic today, too. I've been given some really good feedback from a beta, so I'm trying to figure out where to put her ideas. I think I need to just push on and WRITE. Other stuff can be added later.

And yeah, I just wanted to push past whatever my block was and get something down on paper for the time being. I rarely skip around like this, but sometimes it's apparenlty necessary. And I do have a beta (if she ever gets around to watching it *headdesk* lol) so she'll be on the look out for if my jumping around screws up the overall flow or whatever.

...I'm fairly certain this may break 25k by the time I'm finished though. We'll see I suppose.
