How It Works:

Post to your DW/LJ (publicly or locked) with a list of ten things you want to receive for the holidays. They can be anything, from a personalized DW/LJ icon or drabble to a purebred puppy - as long as all the items on the list are things that you genuinely want.

If there's anything on your list that needs to come to you through the mail, make your shipping address available, but please be safe about it and don't post that part publicly - just specify how people should go about getting it.

Next:

Look around your circle/friends list for others who have posted the meme. (The more who do, the better this works, so encourage them!) If you see a wish you can grant, GO FOR IT. You might find a little thing you can do for free that will make someone happy, or you might just discover that a stranger is longing for the exact boxed set of DVDs that you no longer want.

Don't spend money unless you want to, and don't commit to more than you can handle without stressing yourself. There are no rules to this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. If someone surprises you with a gift certificate to the restaurant you never thought you'd get to go to, don't feel guilty or obliged to return the favor. The point is to spread around a lot of opportunities to grant wishes - use them as you see fit, and remember that your list gives those opportunities to others!

Tips:

Dream big, but stay practical. If you really want the Mercedes, put the Mercedes on the list, but don't forget that you also really want some feedback on the story you wrote - so put that on the list too. It's fun to imagine something huge happening through this meme, but we'll recognizes the unlikelihood of it and make sure our friends still have a chance to do something thoughtful that's within their means.

Put limits on yourself for what, but not who: if you've decided that you can spend a few hours drawing a picture, but none of your friends are asking for one, keep looking for wishlists - you might even make a new friend or two! Ask people to link their lists for you, and don't be afraid to post your own in a few places.

The List!:

1. An icon with Jeremy Renner’s stupid wonderful ridiculously handsome face with the caption “all his fault” because seriously it really really is.

2. Oh the hell with it – might as well go all in. Really anything Jeremy Renner because I clearly have a problem and do not intend to get over it. Headers, banners, wallpapers, drabbles – any and all of it will make me smile like a loon!

3. Arm warmers or fingerless gloves and/or fuzzy socks and leg warmers. I am really HORRIBLY cold-natured, and even our Texas winters can be enough to make my normal stiffness and tendonitis turn to near agony. But me being me and nothing being simple, I can’t function with anything actually over the ends of my fingers without it driving me bats lol.

4. Cookbooks/fave easy recipes. I am really trying to cook more this year (in part because MAN can my boyfriend ever eat lol) and would love to try out some of yall’s favorite easy ones. And I’ve started a collection of cookbooks by accident.

5. Kindle e-book gift cards/e-book reccs. My mom got me a Kindle for Christmas this year and I’m definitely excited to start playing with it. Just gotta get stuff to put on it!

6. Any kind of jewelry making material from beads to tools to pendants to wire to that random piece of shiny who-the-hell-knows-what-it-originally-was. I really enjoy putting together jewelry but damned the supplies can get pricey.

7. Gentle leader head-collar type leashes size 95+ lbs and 60-65 lbs for my pups. I really would love to start walking them but Bennie will literally choke himself to death pulling even if I run with him, and Gams will jerk me around like crazy if he sees another dog to go say hi too. A friend recommended the gentle leaders, but I just haven’t managed to work them into my budget.

8. Hardcore reviews/encouragement/fanart/squees for the 3 fics I plan to use for my Fic-Finishing resolution for next year.  I really want to get these finished up after being on hiatus for WAY too long, and some encouragement from all of yall would be totally helpful. Just FYI – all are OC centric to at least some extent though I do my very damnedest to keep them from sliding into Mary Sue territories. Mostly I succeed I think! They’re also only on FFN right now, but I’ll be cross posting to AO3 within the next few days if you want to wait for those links instead.

9. Same kind of thing but this time for an originally with me needing more brainstorming/helping me figure out how the hell the book should end for my 50k WIP psychic soldier story. It was a NaNoWriMo winner that I approached without any plot at all, and while it went in some really cool directions and I am totally proud of what I accomplished with it and love the characters, I just flat have no idea how to finish it at all and need some help with it. My betacreature askita has been awesome with trying to help me push past the plot block, but I think I may just need another set of eyes or so (note: I will be more nervous about handing out the current manuscript so you will probably need to already be on my f-list to offer for this one…)

10. And may I just say darling you may have answered at least one other question for me for the new year. My psychic soldier romp will DEFINITELY feel right at home at that publisher.. .and added bonus as I just found by wandering their FAQ- Baen takes manuscripts without an agent. I have a specific goal in mind for that book now, and that will definitely help me get rolling on it again I think.

I'm considering upgrading to a new set of jewelry-making tools IF I manage to get to the end of December and pay all the bills and still have a bit of money to spare for it. If I do so, would you like me to send you my current set of tools and maybe some random beads and bits while I'm at it?
