You are amazing. I want to tell you that up front, because you are.
Please don’t stress about this assignment. Just the fact that you are writing for any of these fandoms in the first place will make me ridiculously happy. Also, I just love gifts in general, so I’ll be chuffed to get a prize of any shape and size. I know this letter is ridiculously long as again I love these fandoms, but don’t let that scare you off.
BTW, I know that some fandoms have more option details (mostly bc my brain just had more ideas on some than others – but the Yes Please list can always be considered “prompts” for any of them – especially those w/o as much detail), but I promise I’m TOTALLY thrilled about all of them so don’t worry about getting matched on a “non-fave” – I legit do not have any of those this time. I have six here because I couldn’t stand to remove any of them and all of them were as important as the others!
If none of the prompts/like list work for you, feel free to ignore them.
The only thing I do ask is that my No-Thanks list be avoided.
No thanks: Slave worlds, demon-possession, mind control, prostitution, noncon/dubcon, character death, infidelity, love triangles/jealousy focus (I am far more fond of OT3ing it up), characters de-aged/aged back up during the story (if you make one of the characters a child, make them “canon” children for that story if that makes sense), A/B/O, gangster/mob, noir settings, amnesia fics, loss of limb/amputations, mpreg, underage, gender swap, teacher/student stories, focus on drug abuse/alcoholism, or incest. Please no 2nd person or 1st person POVs (Unless the source material for the fandom is in 1st person – then go for it!).
For M-rated fics, for triggering reasons I have to shy away from knife play/blood play/gun play (only in a sexual context – canon level plot/action violence is fine), scat, watersports, rape-as-fantasy-scenes, anal for M/F pairings, and any kind of direct blow in a sexual connotation, including spanking/flogging.
Yes Please: Post-apocalypse, slice of life/domestic/curtainfic, epistolary stories, found family, crossovers between requested fandoms, AUs (particularly coffee shop, Black Jewels trilogy, daemons, steampunk/neo-Victorian, Sentinel/Guide, Old West, and Pacific Rim fusions), outsider POVs, supernatural elements, badass chicks and men who respect/lust after them for it, fixit fics to bring back killed off characters, fics where characters have kids and are adorable parents, 5 and 1 style fics.
I’m definitely OK with an M-rating, and for smutty fics, I particularly love dirty talk, a clear top ordering their bottom around, hair-pulling, restraint i.e.: ropes/shibari/handcuffs/holding partner down, wall sex, shower sex, cramped vehicular sex, biting/marking (without major blood being drawn), mate bonds, “OMG we didn’t die” sex, and “sharing body heat” leading to sex.
NOTE: I am VERY picky about my slash pairings and usually prefer het or femmeslash with a few exceptions (which aren’t included in this year’s request). If you are a slasher and not a fan of the het pairings suggested, please go the gen route. I know my requests are pretty shippy (most of them are canon pairings anyway), but I am ALWAYS good with friend/found family fics.
Optional Re Crossovers: I also wanted to mention that crossovers between any of my requested fandoms would be awesome if that’s your thing, especially with other fandom characters somehow showing up at the Gertrude Hunt from the Innkeeper Chronicles!
Northmen: A Viking Saga Asbjorn, Inghean
Tom Hopper pulled me into this teeny tiny fandom (No really – there are 7 fics. SEVEN. And I’ve written 5 of them LOL) after Black Sails moved him to the top of my fandom boyfriend list. I gotta admit, it’s such a terrible movie objectively, but it totally appeals to my love of questionable action movies. We get all the Tom Hopper biceps you might hope for in his character (and the lead) Asbjorn, though sadly he never takes the shirt completely off. As the leader of the exiled and shipwrecked Vikings, he’s awesomely competent and has mad chemistry with the one female lead (in the entire film sadly), Inghean. She is a Scottish princess the Vikings kidnap in hopes of ransom only to discover her father prefers to see her dead than pay for her safe return. She also is the source of the one fantasy element in the film: an earth sense that warns her when the group is in danger. All in all, I just desperately want a post-movie fic with these two. The movie ended so very abruptly, and there was so much more of the story hanging. How do they all survive the long boat? Do they ever find safety? Is it at the Viking encampment they hoped to find? Does Inghean’s earth sense end up more under control or cause people to see her as a witch? Will Inghean and Asbjorn EVER do more than stare at each other longingly?
The Innkeeper Chronicles – Ilona Andrews Sean Evans, Dina Demille, Gertrude Hunt
Ilona Andrews basically owns my readerly soul LOL. The Innkeeper Chronicles series is definitely my fave though. Really what’s not to love about an intergalactic Bed and Breakfast? I specifically requested Dina and Sean because I want the story to focus on that pairing, though honestly I really love all of the characters in this story, especially the inn itself, Gertrude Hunt which DEFINITELY feels like a character all on its own and is the other character I requested (Inn POV fic???). While I am currently up to date on SWEEP OF THE BLADE, I am not as into Maude/Arland as much – they can appear, just not as the main characters if that makes sense? I actually don’t know that I could write them either, weirdly enough which is why I decided not to offer them, too. Otherwise, though, I’m definitely game for fics any of the other side characters honestly – I just want Dina/Sean and/or Gertrude Hunt as centric.
So, prompt/concepts I’m excited about: I’d love to have a 1st POV fic ala the books (though from any character you like – Dina, of course, is always a win as the book’s POV character, but I’m game for a look into anyone’s head, especially outsider POV on Dina/Sean), & I’d like it mostly set in and around Gertrude Hunt since the inn is a delight. Domestic fic in particular would make me super happy here. We always see Dina in a panic, but rarely get those calm moments of life running like normal or even with a guest that ISN’T close to causing an intergalactic incident. Are Arland, Maude, and Helen visiting for a holiday? Have Dina & Sean finally made it official & started bonding Sean to the inn? Is Orro in a tizzy? Does Caldenia have a visitor who ISN’T trying to claim a bounty for once? Of course, if you do want to write an actiony fic I’d be happy to read that as well. Seriously run wild – this series just makes me happy in general LOL
Oh! BTW, I would definitely be thrilled to have a crossover with any of the other Ilona Andrews series as long as it’s taking place in the Innkeeper universe. I mean, it’s already canon that Edge verse characters have made it there, but what about a visit from Julie/Derek ala the Kate Daniels books? Does Dina consult with Elara from Iron and Magic on magical conundrums? Or does she end up sheltering one of Nevada’s sisters & cousins from the Hidden Legacy books? I think that would be a TON of fun for sure. This fandom just totally works for crossover fics in general I think!
Kate Daniels – Ilona Andrews Derek Gaunt, Julie Olsen
Oh look another Ilona Andrews series LOL. So, anyway, there are some truly fantastic characters in the Kate Daniels series, but the two that I really want more for right now are Derek and Julie. I love the hints of slow build we seemed to get for them in the novella MAGIC STARS, and I can’t wait until Julie’s finally old enough to get past Derek’s determination to see her as a child (despite the fact that if I do my math right, they aren’t actually that far apart in age, especially if she’s aged up to legal) and therefore not possibly a mate option. I can’t tell if the main series is still hinting that way or not, but really who cares about canon in fanfic right? LOL. So yeah, I would love her aged up and continuing to take on her role as Herald and the power that it entails, allowing her to be confident enough to claim her wolf and be done with it. And Derek, oh Derek honey. I just HURT for him so often in this series. To have suffered the things he has and not only keep going but become even more loyal to Kate and Curran is just … gah I can’t even with this boy, I swear. Derek just deserves good things OK? LOL
BTW I am completely caught up with the series (including side novellas) and am game for anything set during or after any point in the series/verse, including what happens in Iron and Magic. I know directly post Magic’s Triumph with Julie off on adventures could be difficult to make shippy, but maybe a visit home with pining or something? I don’t know that I want something featuring the new short story/teaser up on the website though, just because we have so very little to go on there. Basically, I’m game with anything in this world, but I want it in some way to be centered around Derek and Julie, especially Derek/Julie.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (Book) Dawsey Adams, Juliet Ashton
This book. THIS BOOK. It is rare that a book rockets to the top of my “Top 10 Faves Ever” booklist (mostly bc I have a hard enough time narrowing down a Top 10 list anyway LOL), but this one did it faster than I would have thought possible. Part of it is my love for epistolary romances (love letters = swoon), but part of it too are the bright, funny, and soulful characters writing those letters. I heart all of the literary society’s members past and present. That’s actually the reason I’m requesting the book instead of the Netflix movie – the movie just combined too many characters for me. While I do want Juliet/Dawsey to be the center of any fic for this fandom, I’d love to see either mentions of or letters from any or all of the other characters. And yes, if at all possible if we’re matched on this fandom, I’d really REALLY like for the fill to be in letter format or at least with letter excerpts if possible. It’s the thing I love most about the fandom – so I’d love to see a fic in that format. If letters aren’t your forte though, I will definitely enjoy just something centered around these characters and their love and community!
An Inquiry into Love and Death – Simone St. James Jillian Leigh, Drew Merriken
A friend dragged me kicking and screaming (occasionally literally thanks to the creepy factor lol) into this author’s ghost story romances, but I have loved every one of them so far and am super sad that I’m literally the only person who has written for them (in a previous Yuletide no less LOL). For Drew and Jillian, I would love a glimpse into how their courtship goes after she returns to University. This is another fandom where I think epistolary stories/romance would be especially fun – and I wouldn’t mind seeing a few ghostly letters show up from her Father/Uncle as if he was able to follow her home and finally manage to almost be family from the other side as he never was capable of in life. If you’ve read the rest of the books and feel the urge, I also would definitely enjoy seeing some of the ladies from the other books (those set in England – not the most recent book) show up and share in their lady-awesomeness since it’s always fun finding the tiny Easter egg mentions of the previous books (SILENCE OF THE DEAD is my other fave). Definitely a great chance for the Mrs. Clause Challenge. But regardless, Drew and Jillian are a delight on their own!
The Others – Anne Bishop Meg Corbyn, Simon Wolfgard
I suppose considering that the Black Jewels books are some of my top rereads and top AU fusion fandom, it shouldn’t be surprising that I absolutely love Anne Bishop’s The Others series. It’s such a great take on urban fantasy that both feels fresh and new as well as solidly in the genre and almost painfully timely. I’ve read all the books to date including Lake Silence and am eagerly awaiting Wild Country, as well, but let’s be real, all of us who are fans are super invested in the original series and Meg/Simon. I just… y’all I have trigger issues with cutting as a topic and STILL love these books and reread them over and over (I’m actually listening to them on audiobook again as I write this letter LOL). So yeah, anything with Meg and Simon during or after the books would be amazing from them continuing to negotiate their relationship and the differences between their species to Courtyard domestic shenanigans to dealing with more politics following the conflicts in the main books to even the pair of them taking a “vacation” to Lake Silence be it a working vacation for Simon or a new set of experiences for Meg getting to stay at a hotel and meeting new species of terra indigene. I heart all of the side characters btw, though Sam and Henry are probably my faves, so feel free to include them as much or as little as you like. I just wanted our favorite slowest burn to ever slow burn couple front and center!
